Surveillance: The Fine Art of Spying
Author: Nahshon Demore

A few thousand years back, spying was employed against enemies in order to gather information that would be helpful to quell their raids or to record their doubtful activities.

Since then, only very little has changed. Other than the new term "surveillance," the only thing that is different is the toys that are used and those who are allowed to monitor others.

Nowadays, surveillance isn't just about security anymore. Today, the objective of surveillance is to observe how the subject behaves and whatever he or she is carrying. This is why video surveillance is utilized. This type of surveillance comes in different forms. It is not easy to choose the right equipment. You should not fret. A few things have been listed for you.

Video Players
This is practically a standard equipment utilized in video surveillance. A VCR player can be plugged directly to a wireless receiver or a camera that's set up in another area of your house or office. It can then be programmed to record footage right away and if you have tape.

Motion Sensor Devices
This is where you will be using sophisticated equipment. With motion detection devices attached to your video surveillance system (namely the VCR and camera), you can now program the system to record only if there is movement in a particular area. These motion detection devices can be set up in the most sensitive places of your home or office.

Tracking Tools
This covert surveillance is utilized when you want to be the only person who must know about it. This is just for the very paranoid user, but when it runs along your needs, then use this as a means to track either private vehicles or company cars.

Detection Equipment against Bugs
Bugs can even be used against you. You'll be happy to know that there are counter surveillance equipment. Though this may not sound like video surveillance, you also need to protect yourself by using this counter surveillance equipment.

Battery Packs
Batteries are actually important as they are required to power the cameras which. Because there are no awkward cables, batteries will help ensure that your system stays undiscoverd.

A new type of video surveillance is considered to hit the markets soon. Security and defense departments are eager to have this employed in their areas. They are presently calling this new video surveillance, "intelligent video." The main elements of this ground-breaking system are the video camera and microphone. These two important elements can sense specific information. The software that came with the equipment can be programmed to detect particular words spoken in a crowded street. It may seem like an invasion of privacy but these days aren't what it used to be. The good thing about this equipment is that it can help prevent a crime from happening. This, like everything else that involves privacy, is still being argued.
