A View on Video Surveillance
Author: Nahshon Demore

Video surveillance has been used as early as the sixties, but when its utilization became common in the early '90s, individuals started to become apprehensive of it.

Few assume it's an invasion to privacy while some are telling it's a mode of abuse of power on the government's side. Numerous persons are making a fuss about how the presence of surveillance cameras is getting into their nerves. Nevertheless, no matter which way I look at it, I don't see anything incorrect with having surveillance cam systems around town specifically on public locations as well as dark streets.

The concept of security camera systems was thought of when crime rates began to climb and methods of terrorism began to disturb the nations. Small crimes, muggings, burglaries, sexual assaults, homicides, and much more are starting to become an everyday occurrence that the need for video security became of great significance, if not for easy identification of the perpetrators and/or victims should they be caught on tape, to prevent crimes from happening through the presence of the surveillance camera. Yes, even the installance of a security camera could stop an individual with mischief in mind on his tracks.

After the 9/11 World Trade Center attack, video surveillance system has become in demand as ever. Airports and all major ports of entry have fortified their security systems a few notches and agencies have more CCTV cameras that can cover every square inch of the edifice than what is essential but it's functioning. It has made the job of following and identifying people with previous criminal records simpler for the authorities, more so with nabbing individuals who are displaying dubious personality. In the UK, the security cams themselves could handle criminals on the spot by attaching a speaker to the unit. That's absolutely relatively novel.

However, it's not only the government that benefits from this, private companies, shop owners, and home makers are favoring the significance of a security camera system. A surveillance camera at a strategic pot at a shop is enough to substitute a human security personnel, and they do not sleep on duty unless you fail to regulate and update the system. Firms large and small are having their workplaces all wired up. A CCTV cam system is commonly the major choice but a wireless security cam for hidden surveillance is also very popular. Same is true for private homes. You can be somewhere else in the world far from home and still watch the occurrences inside your house, at the workplace, or at the store. Isn't that such a huge help?

Camera surveillance isn't bad at all when used within reasonable bounds. In fact, all is. In public places like shopping centers, subways, trains, schools, alleys, parking spaces, and the like, ultimately have more benefits contrary to what some persons would have us believe. If you are not doing anything inappropriate, then why would that be a dilemma? You are still free to perform whatever you like as long as you are not violating the rules. However, with the issue of having a police video surveillance camera inside private houses will be taking it somewhat far off. I presume a home owner could perfectly purchase a home security cam of his own if he thinks he needs it. The idea is to not exaggerate it. If the only concern here is privacy, I would rather be safe.
